The Flamingo 411: My name is Suzanne Kelly Polito. Originally from NY, I live in Charlotte, NC. I worked as an RN and have a BSN degree.

 

As long as I can remember, I have had a camera in my hand and with winnings from a slot machine in Las Vegas over 5 years ago, I decided to formally register my photography business as an LLC. What happened next was nothing short of amazing - Red Bird Photography LLC was formed and this Bird Took Flight!

 

My family says I am an FBI level social media creeper, so I used those skills to start planning my dream list of clients. I would follow, comment, and join IG lives and Zoom lives to connect with some of the Best of the Best in fashion, arts, and entertainment. The pandemic gave many an opportunity to slow down and refocus, but for me it was full speed ahead in reaching out and connecting with others and it paid off big time! 

 

The pay off was my work being published in Cosmopolitan, Forbes, Better Homes and Gardens, Real Simple, Allure, and Forbes Espanol. My work was also featured on Times Square billboards multiple times between 2020 and '21. I've made connections with top fashion designers, music industry professionals, and have shot Runway shows for some of the most influential designers in NYFW and Miami Swim Week. I helped make history for artists from Latin America by working with them on their own Times Square billboards and am now proud to call these artists my friends. I say all of this not to brag, or to promote myself, but rather to inspire you to follow your own Dreams. Be a “FLAMINGO IN A SEA OF SWAN AND STAND OUT IN THE CROWD!“ 

 

This Blog and this Movement of A RED FLAMINGO is about being unique, fearless, not restricted by the societal norms of what is age appropriate or socially acceptable. I am a 50 year old woman, tattooed, nose pierced and bumping to some of the hottest Latin Music in a lifted and blacked-out Toyota 4Runner that the boys salivate over. I'm a Mom of three amazing adult children, previous nurse and general construction forewoman, and, most Importantly, A RED FLAMINGO! One who stands out in the crowd, one who enters a press pit of men in a gold dress and does a kick ass job as an independent free lance photographer! A woman who, when the door closes, finds the window and when the window slams shut, digs the tunnel!
